The Small Business Administration (SBA) is an important resource for small businesses. Much of the information that is available to a small business is accessible through the Internet at the SBA web site and as a result, it is imperative that the SBA maintains a highly usable website with useful content for small businesses.
Each week, more than 1.2 million visitors come to the site which contains more than 50,000 documents.
Prism is the prime contractor responsible for providing “Web Content Management” support for the SBA pubic and internal websites infrastructures.
Prism’s responsibilities include providing web administration, static content maintenance, develop and manage business workflow processes and customer service. A major focus of this contract is to support the SBA’s extensive web presence, including public Internet sites, intranet, and extranet, as well as web-based applications such as FAQs, Calendars and Surveys. This support includes development, maintenance and enhancement of web hosted content.
The purpose of this contract is for Prism to carry out the following nine objectives concurrently and track them independently:
- Objective – 1: Provide web administration and static content maintenance
- Objective – 2: Provide customer service and compliance requirements
- Objective – 3: Provide work flow support using BPM products
- Objective – 4: Provide Stellent web content management
- Objective – 5: Provide web application support
- Objective – 6: Provide SharePoint support
- Objective – 7: Provide Adobe support
- Objective – 8: Provide ESRI GeoMapping support
- Objective – 9: Provide After hours support
- As part of project planning:
- We were sensitive to the contract transition from the incumbent and any potential impact on the program
- We tailored our CMM methodology and processes to SBA’s System Development Methodology (SDM) and mapped the SBA’s SDM to CMM Level-3 Key Process Areas (KPAs).
- Our Content development approach:
- Included requirements gathering; designing the data architecture via metadata schemes, taxonomy development, data cleansing, content inventory and template development; system design and development; quality assurance; system and user testing; user training and outreach; and launch and operations maintenance.
- As part of the enterprise framework for the website:
- We identified key users of the systems and roles and responsibilities of content categories and types.
- We ensured that the system architecture and the interface for the web content were customer-centric.
- Our application architecture design for the various web applications emphasized configurable and reusable flow models and we devised mechanisms to track and manage versions of web content material.
- Our system design and engineering approach ensured that with each Content Management System (CMS) implementation, we conducted thorough Business Process Management (BPM) analysis, workflow improvement, change control and training.
- We provided GeoMapping support to the agency by:
- Enabling mapping capabilities to their web pages based on customer surveys.
- We ensured that the data obtained by SBA from GIS data layers were consistent and adequate by performing data cleansing and data analysis.
We ensure top quality customer service, our key personnel are part of the 24x7 after hours support team to attend to emergency on-call support. We ensure compliance regulations (section 508 compliance, congressional compliance, Federal Enterprise Architecture etc) and maintain and excel the Acceptable Quality Level.
